The Baby Face
A little about me.

What can I say? I am a 80s baby, gamer geek, a bit of a graphic designer, and a author. I write fantasy at most, inspired by all works and cultures that fuel my creativity. My first novel is Shadow Genesis Volume One: Preludes of War, and I have several projects alongside it. Always confident, optimism at best. Constructive over destructive, and I always keep faith.

To get technical, my name (as shown on my book) is Ricky Thomas Jr. (soon R.T.II for pen-name sake). If only I had discovered my pen-name sooner. I was born and raised in North Carolina and have a total of nine siblings. I never been married... a mystery to the sillies... but a hopeless romantic I am (though hardened). I am also a graphic designer... well... not a professional but I have a few neat skills under my sleeve. High School grad', I got my diploma here in my home town of Richlands, escaping Richlands High early in 2003 (early grad') then fled to Georgia where I attended the Art Institute of Atlanta in 2004 for Graphic Design/Animation. Who would have thought I would end up becoming an author instead... but at least I can design my own book cover (well, the cover shown on my novel is not 'exactly' what I planned at first... unfortunately).

The Serious Face
I am still new to the serious writer world despite being published in 2010. I am an indie author, self-published, and I have a lot to learn. Honesty is a great policy, and I am not one to boast. I strive to improve on a daily, with firm understanding that there is no perfection. Same goes with the writing craft, us writers evolve everyday. My goal is to not become 'famous' in the term, but to get my stories out there for people like me to read and enjoy. Live in my world and break bread with my characters... or stop the evil ones from getting a bit ahead of themselves in their conquest for world domination or whatever cruel ambition they have under their sleeves. I create these amazing stories--like all of us do--from the head... well with a strong dose of inspiration stemming from various works of fiction from movies, television, and the good ole book method. When all else is absent, I have my music. I am not too big on R&B, Hip Hop, and Rap like I use to be (depends on the music and its flow/message), but I do enjoy those 'movie trailer tunes' - the action adventure type with the whole epic hybrid beats all orchestrated and such, including a few anime' and actual video game soundtracks (and fan remixes) included. These aid my creativity on a massive scale. Gaming is a strong point of mine indeed. Roleplaying Games (RPGs) are the most inspiring sources for me. They teach a great deal, aside from how to defeat a dragon with your bare hands or how to create a deadly sword of fire capable of not only cutting down your foes like butter... but is an awesome instant cooking utensil.... I kid.

The Fantasy Face (Shadow Influenced)
It is evident I love the fantasy genre when talking about roleplaying games, especially since I love fantasy in general, and keep to that interest as I create my worlds, its inhabitants, and its history. Sure I have a few errors, we all run into pitfalls... but that is the learning progress. So to gather as much knowledge as possible (aside from the obvious) I like to read the books my favorite authors: Terry Goodkind (Sword of Truth), R. A. Salvatore (Forgotten Realms/Drizzt), J. R. R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings), and George R. R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire). If I am not reading, I am most likely gaming on the Sony Playstation, busy with life stuff, or brainstorming while writing.

Shadow Genesis is not my only project after all, with three main projects in works and a few side ones hanging in the balance. As they say: I keep busy.
