SLANG HATIN'

"This Facebook post of mine is big enough to blog. Didn't realize it until after the fact."

I was touching on the whole Bae Phenomenon and found it funny, interesting, and a bit head-shaking on those who have to find some offense or disappointment in its use. Perhaps I enjoy slang since I write a lot, a whole lot, and variety of languages, words, slang, all of that, is safe in my book.

The slang "Bae" - According to the ole Urban Dictionary lists the word as an acronym meaning “before anyone else,” or the short version of "baby" or "babe" and so forth. But there is another use, a Danish use for it, which means Poop.

"Bae" has existed in a shiz load of rap songs and web stuff (memes and all of that) for a good while (we're talking mid 2000's or so - given research) and appears to be going nowhere. I haven't used the slang but seen the younger gen' spit it on repeat all over the place, and once upon a time I used "Boo" which has its own origins (me believing it a southern thing but I could be wrong) but now that word is out of my system given how expansive my vocab' has become recently.

I say things that make heads tilt to shock any-who, and they are actual words. Word play is just one of my favorites.

I've also noticed the sudden 'Dislike' of the word "Bae". And as usual with me I could never understand why anyone would get pissed from a word. I thought sticks and stones do more damage? Or maybe I'm just weird and my fortitude is a lot stronger than others...extremely a lot stronger than others. I've seen people supposedly gripe over the smallest of things as if it will ruin society (Grammar Nazis tend to have heart attacks over a mispeled wrd), but society keeps on going, keeps on changing, ups and downs, and has been this way before any of us were ever born.

To me, to be offended over trivial things is a bad sign. Perhaps my father is coming out of me more and more for back in the days of me having fits over silly stuff my pop would scold the hell out of me for it. I remember my trips up north (NY, PA, etc) and heard various slang terms that were both interesting, never before heard, and cool to me. Maybe that is because I'm a writer and take to word-smithing, thus my attention to words of all variances is different than those who are not as... I don't know... artistic?

Everyone is their own character after all.

Maybe this sudden hatred or whatever is a sign of my generation getting old. Since the things we've done is somewhat out of style now (not entirely) and those behind us up and coming are doing their own thing. Now some of us are acting like the old prudes and angry senior citizens calling the younger set whippersnappers and wanting to beat the living hell out of them with canes.

Simply put: Y'all getting old.

As for me...I don't age. I'm immortal. HA!

These people are about as crazy-acting as when that silly "Thot" came to life.

Ha! I don't get offended at the word 'bae', I just think it's stupid and choose not to use it. Plus, it's completely overused and annoying now. Every time someone has a new slang term, people automatically start saying it all over the place without knowing it's origin or anything. THAT is what makes me mad about slang. And that is what shows people's ignorance. Good post. ;)

Yup. It's a silly word, with origins not many know of. It can be said that the word was harmless until dug up, aside from the over annoyance some tend to spit about it.

It's like how I make up words (and others) for things in my projects only to discover they actually exist in some other form. The world is vast, bigger than some of us fail to realize, so a word can actually exist in another language and we are not aware of it. It is not like we can automatically know given the many, many, MANY languages this world has. And the jargon is just as big. Therefore that's a coincidence...a funny one at that.

Then there is here, the USA, there are many forms of jargon never heard before unless one goes into that area and is exposed, which I've learned during my trips far north and south.

With that said, those who get a bit wild hair for nothing should take the time to rethink before wasting their energy being bugged about it. Is it really that necessary to trip? Even though I say that, people will still act how they please and that's their free will, but I still see no concrete reason to gripe about the slang.

2015 is here, there's going to be others, and I'm just waiting to see what new wild hairs are going to shoot up in these folks tight cabooses for as you know personally...I'm easily amused about things that shouldn't be serious.

...I still haven't found any use for "Bae" in my work however...so...that's passed. Haha!!
