Steady Friday

Today's revision word count: 1036 words (2.9 pages). Undertaking a 500-2000 word push to me is far steadier than my chapter a day push, which I painstakingly hauled off already. Today's 2nd drafting was decent.

Never want to burn out when writing, and writers block can still sneak up if one lacks caution. Now I know I spoken about the block of blocks before, how several factors can cause one to end up in a standstill, but as I further in this slow-coming second draft, I can say that a blockage in writing for me equals a lack of creativity easily remedied by rest and immersing in your hobbies. I took a day off in my week of writing because of it, was actually fear of losing my grip in rewriting Shadow Genesis, so I applied myself to other things. Just like that, I was good to go for the rest of the week, and now that I just finished for the day, it's off to do other things. I have tons of other stuff to brainstorm on. Music also does the trick for when I need new meat by audio influence to add to the ole iPod, and surfing my favorite sites/shows. It actually works for what I am doing. Learned a great deal too… few animals I never knew existed.

Got to love Netflix and those National Geographic showings. My bestiary just exploded with ideas.

It is like this, for years I have been creating, but I never really took time to discover other resources side the already known back in the day. I saw how certain elements work with my projects, like supernatural abilities, real world deities, and other world-wide wonders tickling my fancy and ultimately surfacing with new material able to mold into my already made works. It is a whole new ball game nowadays.

There is also this bothersome thing of vocab that I run into at times. You find a word and try to squeeze out a different synonym/antonym or something to match your character or feel of scene then suddenly you have a sentence (dialogue or narrative) better than the original. What kicks me in the ass is when I go back through my thesaurus, wikis, dictionaries, and other word translators I discover new words... working even more so than before. It is a challenge when creating your own slang and so forth too, but I have fun with it. This goes to say, and many have said this, that one should just write and come back later on an edit unless one is fixed on editing/going.

It is best not to rush, or your story can come out mush.

Trust, I found this out the hard way... hence my reboot. I am my worst critic after all. Now to work on a few new deities for Shadara, play some Skyrim... and see what else is about.
